January 19, 2010, Download Form,

Dear Camp Washington Business Association Member/ Prospective Member:

Recently you received an email requesting renewal of your company’s membership the Camp Washington Business Association for the 2010 calendar year. The committee charged with studying the dues Camp Washington Businesses Association members pay annually has completed its recommendations to help lessen the impact felt by the loss of United Way funding and of the reduction in CNBDU monies.

This loss of United Way funding ($65,000.00), coupled with a significant reduction ($5,000.00) the Cincinnati Neighborhood Business Development Union immediately and significantly impacts us as a business organization and most significantly impacts Joe Gorman, our Executive Director as well as the Camp Washington Community Board (CWCB). This significant loss of funding couldn’t have occurred at a more critical time, as this year we are entering an extremely important and exciting era for Camp Washington:

Your Camp Washington Business Association has delivered the following to date:
• CWCB renovation and home sales of twelve single-family homes since 2007. This proactive directive has kept them from being havens of drug trafficking – leading to…
• SAFTEY: Crime rates dropped another 5% in Camp Washington in 2009 – The City’s lowest.
• Passage of the Camp Washington Industrial Plan occurred January, 2010. Directed at business growth potential for the Crosley Building, the Kahns property + more…
• Construction is underway for major upgrade along Colerain (Stock to Rachel), and installation of a second Gateway at Hopple and Garrard.
• CWBA monthly luncheons continue to be informative forums for communication and networking for the Business Community/Police and Camp’s Residents.
• We are heavily involved in the new Revive I-75 project that commences this April
• Community Structure:
o The River City Camp Washington Community Picnic continues to grow
o Restoration of the Doughboy Statue, installation of new flagpole, and landscape improvements at Valley Park have been ongoing since 2006.
• Coming: Inaugural golf outing fundraiser/ social at Clovernook Country Club on May 24, 2010

We have so many positive events that are a direct result of our Business Association efforts that we simply cannot afford to lose momentum as we enter 2010. After careful consideration, the dues membership committee has suggested members adopt a multi-tier membership fee structure beginning in 2011:

Introductory with 1-5 employeess: $50/year
Businesses with 15 or fewer employees: $100.00/ year
Businesses with 16 to 50 employees $250.00/ year
Businesses with more than 50 employees: $350.00/ year

I encourage each business to recognize and understand the need for this increase. It was not undertaken lightly, particularly in this economy, but the cost of not acting to help offset lost revenue is much more significant to our organization and to our community.

Please feel free to contact me at any time regarding this or any other CWBA related topic at 591-0486 Thank you and have a safe, healthy, and prosperous 2010!

Sincerely,
Charles P. Wood, III
President, Camp Washington Business Association
